"Yeux clos" is a key work in the fusion of mysticism and Christianity in RedonÕs art in the 1890ies. Redon made several variations of this subject, and in different media. Despite his many versions of "Yeux clos", Redon remained challenged and was invigorated by the subject. Odilon Redon was very successful in selling his lithographs at the auction market. By 1913, RedonÕs 1890 lithograph was one of his most popular works, and never failed to sell for less than 150 francs.
