Intérieur à la Suspension. Colour lithograph. 1899. Signed in pencil, lower right "E. Vuillard". R.-M. 35. 35:28 cm.
Vuillard had worked on the series "Paysages et Intérieurs" since 1896. Ambroise Vollard published it in 1899.
A master of decorative interiors, the artist captured the intimate atmosphere of a small street, of a café,
or simply of a room. It is a splendid firework of colour and constitutes not only the highlight of Vuillard's
printed work but also of lithography of the late 19th century as such. "Intérieur à la Suspension" is an excellent example for the correlation of space and colour.
A signed copy of a brilliant and fresh impression. Unobtrusive foxing.
