Very fine early impression with considerable burr showing particularly in the drypoint at the top right corner. The image was the result of a single biting process, and the artist felt no need for further retouch with the exception of a few horizontal strokes of drypoint in the sky. The vigorous, rough, and dense handling of line to indicate form and create shadow corresponds in this image to the artistÕs handling of pen and ink in a number of early drawings. This etching is in fact one of his earliest.
