Slg./ Coll.: Earl of Spencer Althorp (L.2341a) Only three signed etchings are known by Sebastiano dei' Valentinis, of which "the rest on the Flight into Egypt" is by far the most charming. The artist seems to have been active in Udine and Grizia in the mid 16th century. The figures of the Madonna and of Saint Joseph can be compared to the ones in Campagnola's etchings, whereas the unusual landscape creating the marvellous atmosphere in this print reflects the influence of the Danube school.
