Fiesinger: A Jesuit, he started his career as engraver after the Order's suppression, in 1773; first worked in Munich and Vienna, then to Paris c.1780 (although the plates he engraved in the French capital city are dated 1789 at the earliest), where he worked in collaboration with Jean Urbain Guérin. During the Terror (1793) he fled to London; came back to Paris c.1798 and resumed his collaboration with Guérin. Left Paris in 1802 and died in London, 28 February 1807.

Kosciuszko: 1746 – 1817, Polish general,and leader against the Russians in 1792 and of the uprising of 1794. Imprisoned in St Petersburg; released 1796 and henceforth in exile.
