View of the town of Berne with Käfigturm (prison tower), Burgerspitalkornhaus, Knabenwaisenhaus, Zeughaus, above the French church, Zytglogge (a medieval clock tower with moving puppets) and in front of it the Kornhaus. In the background the impressive Bernese alps. Beautiful, very fine watercolour for the smaller aquatint "Vue de la Ville de Bern prise depuis l'Enge" by J. J. Sperli, which was published by Leuthold in 1832. Small unobtrusive stain in the sky. |
