Second edition of this extremely rare and beautifully illustrated treatise on surveying. The mathematician Jean Boulenger was one of the “commissaires,” together with Étienne Pascal, Mydorge, Beaugrand, and Hérigone, appointed by Richelieu to investigate Morin’s discovery. Boulenger boasted that he had found a method for determining longitude. Owner’s stamp on the title page and final leaf. Clean, good copy in the original boards.
